This weekend is going to be filled with music and fun in New Bern as a number of events come into town. For the Weekend of the 16th in August we will see the Dog Days of Summer taking over the city at the Isaac Taylor Garden as early as Thursday night with Rick Huff. But there’s more than just that with live music and even musicals everywhere, such as Masonic Theatre, or the Trent River Coffee Company, and even the New Bern Farmer’s Market.
But if the Dog Days of Summer aren’t enough for you, then we also have the fourth annual River Jam, during the Farmer’s Market, which will feature The Embers and The Breakfast Club as main highlights, but as always there is plenty of fun to be had at the farmer’s markets and you can support the local community in the process.
Additionally we get a theatre troupe that will be finishing their final shows of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. A show that is being put on by Rivertowne Players, a local group of musical performers that enjoy providing a fantastic show for everyone to see during these crazy weekends.
Finally at the Trent River Coffee Company, we get a modern folk and blues performance by Jon Shain. He’s been praised in particular for having some amazing guitar picking skills, as well as more high energy levels than you would expect for blues performances. His talent is certainly supposed to catch people off guard, which can make the show a wonderful experience.
These are just a few of the things happening this entire weekend, starting Thursday and going until Saturday, so make sure to get at them while you still can! The tickets won’t last long.
